Author Guidelines

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Mahasara: Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Music

1. General Provisions

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by other journals.
  • Articles must align with interdisciplinary music studies (musicology, ethnomusicology, music education, etc.).
  • Authors must use the official Mahasara 2026 Template (.docx).
  • Manuscripts can be written in English or Bahasa. An English abstract is mandatory.
  • Plagiarism similarity index must not exceed 20%.
  • Mendeley is mandatory for reference management.
  • The journal applies a double-blind peer review system.

2. Title & Author Identity

Title: 8–12 words, phrase form, clearly represent research substance. Avoid articles (the, a, an).

Author Identity: Full names without academic titles. Affiliation format: Study Program, Faculty, University. Mark corresponding author with (*) and include institutional email.

3. Abstract & Keywords

  • Word Count: 250–300 words in a single paragraph.
  • Content: Objective, methods, results, discussion, conclusion, and implications.
  • Keywords: 3–5 keywords, separated by semicolon (;).
  • No citations or references to figures/tables/equations in the abstract.

4. Article Structure

1. Introduction: Background, recent scholarly review (5–10 years), research gap, and clear research question.

2. Literature Review: Theoretical framework and scholarly positioning.

3. Methods: Design, data collection, analysis techniques, and validity assurance.

4. Results: Objective presentation. Tables must be editable (not screenshots). Figures must be high resolution.

5. Discussion: Interpretation, connection with previous studies, and theoretical/societal contributions.

6. Conclusion: Direct answer to research questions and future opportunities.

5. References

  • Minimum 80% primary sources.
  • Prioritize publications from the last 5–10 years.
  • Style: APA 7th Edition.
  • DOI must be included whenever available.

6. Ethical Statement & Copyright

No plagiarism or data fabrication. Conflict of interest must be declared. Articles are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright with first publication rights granted to the journal.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
