PEER REVIEW PROCESS
Mahasara: Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Music
Double-Blind Peer Review System
1. Initial Screening
Before undergoing the peer review process, all submitted manuscripts are pre-screened by the editorial team for:
- Scope alignment: Ensuring the topic fits the journal's focus.
- Template compliance: Adherence to the official Mahasara format.
- Plagiarism check: Verification of originality (max 20% similarity).
2. Editorial Assessment
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are evaluated by the Section Editor for:
- Methodological adequacy and research integrity.
- Scholarly relevance and contribution to the field of music studies.
3. Peer Review
Manuscripts are sent to minimum two independent reviewers who are experts in the respective field. This is a double-blind process, meaning the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed.
Review duration: 2–4 weeks.
4. Decision Categories
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on reviewer recommendations:
- Accept without revision: The manuscript is ready for publication.
- Minor revision: Minor changes are required (resubmission not required for review).
- Major revision: Significant changes are required (may undergo a second round of review).
- Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication.
5. Final Decision
The final decision is based on the consensus of the reviewer recommendations and the editorial board's evaluation. Authors will be notified of the outcome via the OJS platform.
