Pembelajaran Berbasis Lagu Dolanan Jawa dan Penguatan Karakter pada Pendidikan Dasar: Sintesis Kuantitatif Deskriptif

Abstract

This study synthesizes quantitative empirical evidence on Javanese dolanan song-based learning and character-related outcomes in basic education. It uses a descriptive quantitative synthesis of secondary data rather than a new field experiment. Nine empirical studies published between 2017 and 2026 were retained from twenty candidate empirical references identified during article development. Six studies reported outcomes directly related to character, social skills, or socio-emotional development, while three studies provided contextual evidence on the effectiveness of dolanan-song and local-wisdom learning. Data were extracted on participants, design, intervention, outcomes, pre-post scores, significance tests, normalized gain, and effect size when reported. Because instruments, samples, and research designs were heterogeneous, no pooled effect estimate was calculated. The selected studies consistently reported positive directions of change, with the most recurrent support appearing in cooperation, followed by responsibility, discipline, independence, honesty, and socio-emotional development. The synthesis distinguishes changes in character-related constructs from contextual improvements in learning outcomes, thereby avoiding the treatment of different constructs as equivalent evidence. It also proposes three analytical mechanisms through which dolanan songs may become educationally meaningful: musical participation, structured social interaction, and reflection followed by habituation. These mechanisms are interpretive rather than validated causal pathways. The findings support the use of dolanan songs as active cultural-musical experiences while indicating the need for controlled primary-school studies, validated character measures, behavioral observation, and explicit effect-size reporting.
