Abstract

Children’s sholawat increasingly circulates through digital platforms where religious music, child-oriented audiovisual packaging, platform reuse, and early childhood educational practices intersect. This study examines that intersection through a qualitative observational netnography of ten traceable public digital objects: five YouTube videos explicitly packaged for children or early-childhood contexts and five TikTok sound-analytics records for selected religious repertoires. Public metadata, titles, descriptions, visual cues, lyrics, movement, reuse indicators, and interaction metrics were documented as a time-bound snapshot on 28 August 2026 and interpreted through cross-platform comparison and thematic coding. The corpus shows substantial circulation, including approximately 113.29 million cumulative views across the five selected YouTube videos, while TikTok analytics reveal repeated reuse of several sounds. More importantly, the qualitative coding identifies recurring combinations of vocal repetition, lyric display, animation, child-oriented labels, religious framing, and movement. A PAUD performance of Allahul Kafi provides an observable example of a religious repertoire being embodied in an early-childhood institutional practice and subsequently documented online, without establishing a direct causal path from a particular digital source. The study’s novelty lies in conceptualizing children’s sholawat as a digital religious repertoire shaped jointly by musicality, religiosity, pedagogy, and platform logic. It further proposes adult musical curation as a pedagogical implication rather than a directly observed behavior. These findings support critical, ethical, and context-sensitive selection of digital religious music for early childhood settings.
